Dr. Rheeda Walker is a licensed clinical psychologist and award-winning professor who has spent over 20 years engaged in research and teaching and training the next generation of clinicians and scholars. She is now a full professor in the Department of Psychology here at Wayne State.
A Fellow of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Walker has published more than 70 scientific papers on Black mental health, suicide, and emotional resilience. She also serves on the editorial boards of Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior and The Journal of Black Psychology.
Her influence extends beyond the classroom. Dr. Walker is the best-selling author of The Unapologetic Guide to Black Mental Health and has been featured on Good Morning America, The Breakfast Club, and NPR, with her work cited in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and more.
